Paramount Delays CMT Music Awards, EMAs, and Other Events Due to Skydance Merger.

Paramount has temporarily halted numerous significant events, including the 2025 Country Music Television (CMT) Awards.

This decision arises as Paramount Global prepares for an impending merger with Skydance Media. According to The Hollywood Reporter, various scheduled events for 2025 have been delayed, such as the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), the CMT Music Awards, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Mexico, and the MTV MIAW Awards, which were previously referred to as the MTV Millennial Awards, an annual event honoring Latin American music.

Paramount has announced the postponement of several significant events, including the 2025 Country Music Television (CMT) Awards. This decision comes as the company prepares for a potential merger with Skydance Media. According to The Hollywood Reporter, other events affected by this delay include the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs), the CMT Music Awards, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Mexico, and the MTV MIAW Awards, which previously recognized Latin American music.

The postponement plans were communicated in a memo from Paramount president Bruce Gillmer, as reported by THR. It is important to note that this delay will not impact the VMAs or the Kids’ Choice Awards in the United States, and the timeline for the resumption of the postponed events remains unspecified.

The announcement regarding the cancellations of Paramount's awards shows occurs in the context of multiple legal disputes facing the company. One such dispute involves investors who have lodged a complaint against Paramount in the Delaware Chancery Court, claiming that the agreement disproportionately benefits Redstone, as reported.
