Comment: He demonstrated potential last fall by enhancing his Beyer Speed Figure over four consecutive races, culminating in a win at the Los Alamitos Futurity. This included a commendable fourth place in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, finishing less than two lengths behind the undefeated 2-year-old champion Ted Noffey. However, he has shown a decline at age 3, finishing third after leading in the Rebel, and failing to engage in the Arkansas Derby. Perhaps he simply did not favor Oaklawn Park? Baffert removed the blinkers from this colt in his previous race, but he is reinstating them for the Derby. Anticipate his presence at or near the front early on, employing the same strategy his sire utilized to secure victory in this race a decade ago.
